Matching Funds Project

We developed a free iPhone/iPod app to assist athletic trainers, and medical personnel in the diagnosis and management of sports related concussion. Our app, named Concussion Test, is based on the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool 2 (SCAT2).Our goal is to increase awareness regarding sports related concussion and to increase utilization of standardized sideline testing protocols. This will improve removal from play and return to play decisions. We are partnering with WeSearch in order to develop a matching funds program. If there is a school or youth sports program that is unable to purchase an iPhone/iPod touch, we will match the funds they raise dollar for dollar, effectively cutting the purchase price of the device in half.

Initially, we are raising $1000.00.

If you are interested in helping schools properly care for athletes with sports related concussion, please consider donating to our project. Data from the project will be used to understand concussion symptoms, long-term side effects, and occurrence rates.

App Instructions

Concussion Test is easy to use. Instructions for each test element are included in the app. It is important for you to understand the security measures we have in place to protect the data.
1. You can use the “Quick Test” option without logging in. For example, you can let the opposing team use the app to evaluate their injured athlete. However, in order to assign the test data to an athlete, login is required.
2. In order to access individual test data, a username and password are required.
3. Future versions of the app will permit data storage in HIPAA compliant servers. After testing is completed, the test results can be emailed to members of the traumatic brain injury program or assigned to the athlete and saved within the app.A feedback survey is available from Survs at
